Welcome, Children & Families! Our Religious Exploration (R.E.) program aims to:

  • Pass on a passion for our faith tradition, with its emphasis on the importance of relationships and developing and sustaining community bonds; and
  • Promote values of inclusion, justice, and respect for diverse families, for our global community and for our congregation.
  • Develop UU identity
  • Develop an openness to explore, experience and deepen spirituality
  • Nurture curiosity, wonder, respect and appreciation throughout life

Our experience is that children and youth feel greater ease, participate more readily and can build deeper community when they attend more regularly.

Welcome, Kids! Please come with your parents, grandparents or guardians! Join us for the first part of each worship service, and we’ll read or tell a story for all ages during this time. You might want to choose a small stone to drop in the water and tell us about some joy or concern in your life. Sometimes we’ll have a special service for all ages.

We offer Religious Exploration classes before the worship service one or two Sundays a month (October through May or June) for three multi-age groups:

  • Elementary classes (grades K-4) follow the same Soul Matters themes as our worship services. Children are introduced to the Shared UU Values (see the Our Faith tab above). Please “dress for mess.” We want our youngsters to explore without concern for dirtying or damaging something special.
  • Coming-of-age classes (grades 5-8 or older) focus on studying faith traditions and developing personal faith.
  • Teen/Adult discussions focus on topics chosen by participants.

Questions about Religious Exploration for young people? Speak with coordinator Janey Wagner or with the teacher/coordinator for each age group.

Multigenerational Activities: We believe that our UUCNC community is built through service, action, learning, celebrating, and sharing with one another. We strive to offer events and activities for all ages.
