Truth

Some of the Holidays are now behind us. One can only hope the we have “survived” them with style and grace. As wonderful or difficult as this time of year is, we now prepare for the coming year with its challenges and joys.

It has been written in Christian scriptures that “You shall know the Truth and the Truth shall set you free.” What Truth? WhoseTruth? We all seem to have our unique mindset on what the “Truth” is and is not. The level of disagreement on what is “Truth” has reached a crescendo level throughout our world.

Is there anything that we can agree on that will set a level playing field for our entire human family? Is there a basis or grounding point that we can all agree upon in order to mend our broken planet and her children?

I have studied religion, philosophy, sociology, and history for as far back as I can remember. The one thing I have is a rock solid conviction reflected by George Santayana, in The Life of Reason, 1905…”Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.”

Most people have a personal theology, a cultural heritage, dogmas, creeds, politics, etc. Though subjective “Truth” may be comforting, it has also cost our human family in blood, treasure, tears, and evolutionary growth. As we prepare to tackle 2024, perhaps we should all take a few moments to reflect that we are, each and every one of us, part of one whole.

I submit that we can and should look beyond the mountains of rhetoric and identify the one thing that will set us free…Liberating Love. If that were easy, everybody would be doing it. The simple Truth is that when we follow the spiritual prescription of loving ourselves and loving our brothers and sisters as ourselves…Transformation and Transcendence occurs. The fact is that we have never, as a species, made that the most important “Truth.”

I invite you as an individual and as a member of all humanity….Let us make this singular aim of Liberating Love our Most Important New Year’s Resolution. In 365 days from now, we shall truly see this “Truth” set us free. Perhaps more free indeed than we have ever been.

Namaste,
Rev. Ron
