Unitarian Universalist Congregation
of Northern Chautauqua

companionship  on  life's  sacred  journey

Affinity Groups

Small Affinity Groups are one way to strengthen our community as the congregation grows in size. They’re a good place to better get to know others. Visitors and new attenders are welcome.

Please check the calendar at the News & Events tab above for details of each group’s meetings.

If you have an idea or interest not represented here, please speak with any member of the Executive Board.

Adventure & Travel Group

Coordinates and invites participation in excursions of all kinds, from a summer camping trip to visit an intentional community in Ithaca, to winter camping at Allegany State Park, to an exhibit of contemporary indigenous art of Australia and New Zealand at the Erie Art Museum, to the Toronto flower show “Canada Blooms.”

Campus Ministry

Welcomes all in the college community and coordinates occasional on-campus programs at SUNY-Fredonia.

Chalice Groups

Chalice Group participants consider their heartfelt responses to a variety of spiritual topics and then take turns sharing and listening deeply to others in a small group format. Groups meet biweekly for two-hour sessions for 6 to 8 weeks. As much as possible, meeting times are arranged to accommodate those who are interested. Sign-up sheets are available on the back table on Sunday mornings, or use information on the Contact Us tab on this website.

Choir

Sings at one worship service each month, with rehearsal at 10 AM the same morning. New participants are always welcome, as are suggestions of music to sing!

EarthWorks

Hands-on interest group sometimes works independently and at other times partners with community organizations to engage in conservation projects and raise public awareness of conservation needs. Recent projects included weekly cleanup at Point Gratiot on Lake Erie; film showings; and activism to oppose the use of coal ash on the roads of Chautauqua County.

Eastern Philosophies

Holds monthly discussions focusing on Eastern spiritual practices.

Men of Empathy

Men work toward a stronger understanding of Unitarian Universalism with monthly gatherings that include drumming, conversation, and a different program topic each month.

Third Tuesday Table Talk

Join others for food, conversation, and fun at Bob Evans Restaurant in Dunkirk. See you there at 6:30 PM on the third Tuesday of each month!

UU Riders

If you ride a motorcycle or are interested in learning about bikes and riding, join us! Immerse yourself in chrome, gleaming paint, and the robust aromas of leather! We view and discuss videos, attend motorcycle shows, and — when weather permits — head out on the open road! Check the online calendar for details of upcoming gatherings.

Vegetarian Dining Group

This group gathers for weekly vegetarian dinners in members’ homes. Members have experimented with different kinds of meals, sometimes prepared cooperatively or around a theme. Check the online calendar for details on upcoming dinners.

Women of Spirit

All women high school age and older are invited to meet each month for a program related to spirituality.

Writing Circle

Are you starting out with writing or an experienced writer who wants to share your work? Everyone high school age and older, UU or not, is welcome to join others to share work in progress; if you can, bring multiple copies to share! Meetings are usually held twice each month on weekday evenings; see the online calendar for details.
